Moving Practicalities  
As recently as ten years age, many electrical and household goods were unavailable on the Chinese mainland, but happily those days are over, and most essential are easily bought. Bearing in mind that the cost of living is much cheaper in China than in Western countries, in making financial sense to buy most of what you need once you arrive.
 
If you are looking to move house within the city, there are numerous local companies who will send staff to pack, move, and haul your belongings into your new home with a minimum of effort. For international removals, things are naturally more complicated. All of the objects you wish to ship must be individually itemized in order that they comply with Shanghai’s customs regulations. Be warned that CDs, furniture, and electrical and wires are all subject to import taxes.
